Overview

Part of Six By The Sea, Hunky Dory is a new seaside take-out in the heart of Peggy’s Cove serving up a menu of savoury gourmet French fry dishes and unique soft serve ice cream, all developed by head Chef Dave McLachlan.

Context

As part of the Six By The Sea family of brands, it was imperative that Hunky Dory had it’s own distinct identity while maintaining a visual language consistent with the other brands under the umbrella. To accomplish this, we introduced fun, folky typefaces with a hand-drawn texture, in addition to the existing pastel colours complementary to Holy Mackerel, The Schoolhouse and Margaret’s Cafe to create a delicious, classic chip shop feel.

Building off Six By The Sea’s owner’s family ties to McCain Foods, our team developed an easy-to-use website offering a menu, news/press directory and background on the local area history that inspired the development of Hunky Dory.

In advance of Hunky Dory’s summer 2025 grand opening, we also developed food packaging, signage and event marketing materials, working with local media and hospitality partners such as Ambassatours to promote local tourism in the Peggy’s Cove area.
